Get to know Emma's right-hand woman, life-saver, and design intern, Shelby Hairston!

Shelby is an upcoming Senior at West Henderson High School, and for 17, she's pretty dang amazing. If we had to chose a few words to describe her: smart, beautiful, and the best intern Emma could have ever asked for! Aside from having awesome taste in music and impeccable style, she enjoys exploring Asheville's hidden gems.

Before joining The Brigman Group in the early summer, Emma and Shelby met through West Henderson's mentorship program. In her Advanced Studies class, she took on the task of completing most of design and construction of a tiny home interior. Along the course of 5 months, Shelby and Emma worked together to solve design problems, pick finishes for the house, and even constructing the interior together! Since joining The Brigman Group, Shelby has made such a wonderful impact on our team, assisting Emma with all aspects of design and social media.

After graduation, Shelby plans to attend college and start her career in a creative field! As much as we hate to see her go, we look forward to seeing her THRIVE in college and her future career. The Brigman Group has been so lucky to have her!

Want to get to know Emma? Here's more info on our Design Manager!

"I'm originally from Santa Cruz, California, but grew up just outside of Atlanta in Marietta. I have always had a deep passion for art and design, even as a little kid, so it is no surprise that I chose to go to SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) when I graduated. I absolutely loved college (even the crazy all-nighters I pulled on a weekly basis) and I learned so many valuable things while being exposed to incredible designers. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design in 2015, and soon after started my design career at Interface, Inc., a modular carpet tile company, as a Concept Interior Designer.

After about a year and lots of traveling to North Carolina, I decided to relocate and begin a new adventure in Asheville returning to my roots and working with a residential interior designer. I gained wonderful experience, then decided to move into the design-build realm, and WOW do I love it. I am so happy to be a part of The Brigman Group and I am honored to work with so many great people on a daily basis. I truly love what I do.

I'm a design-a-holic, and often find myself driving all over Asheville, listening to music,  and exploring the different neighborhoods and eclectic styles that make this city so special. If I'm not out house hunting, I am usually hanging around downtown with friends, binge-watching some new TV show with my cat Bones, or catching a concert at The Orange Peel."
